A War department telegram to Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Weeks, 208 I street northwest Miami, brought news of the death of their son, Cpl. Franklin L. Weeks, 23, killed aug 7, in the Sicilian campaign. this is the second death in the family in one week, Mr. and Mrs. Weeks having been informed recently of the death of their daughter, Louise, Mrs. Charles Chenhall, at Bakersfield, California on Aug 3, four days before her brother's. the passing of Franklin, a corporal gunner, and his sister mark the first breaks in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Weeks and 12 children. the remaining ten surviving include Sgt. Lawrence Weeks, U.S.A. at McCullough Field, San Diego California; second class seaman, Richard Weeks, U.S.N. of Corpus Christi Texas; First Class Petty Officer J. W. Weeks, U.S.N., who just completed a furlough at home after an assignment in Brazil; Austin of Roscoe California, Emory, Betty Jo, Mary Lou, Ralph and Curtis of Miami and Mrs. Eddie Kelly of El Reno Oklahoma. Franklin attended grade and high school in Miami. when the draft began he enlisted and has been in active service ever since. for the past year he has been stationed in the North African area. Note: Four of the Weeks boys died in World War II.

funeral services for Cpl. Franklin L. Weeks, who was killed Aug 7, 1943, in the Sicilian campaign, will be held at 2 pm Friday at the First Christian church. full military rites will be held under direction of the American legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. the Rev. Russell Martin and the Rev. Harry W. Curtis will officiate Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery with the Cooper funeral home in charge.
