Funeral rites for Narus Ward, a World War I veteran, were held at 2 pm Monday in the Baptist church in Hockerville Oklahoma. The American Legion post of Miami Oklahoma conducted military rites at the grave in the G.A.R. cemetery. Burial was under direction of the Goodson-Durnil funeral home. The 60 year old retired miner lived at Hockerville and had been a resident of the district for more than 30 years, Mr. Ward, who had been ill for the past three years, died Friday night at the Veterans' hospital in Muskogee. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Ward of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Milburn of Bristow Oklahoma; Mrs. Frank Hudson of McCloud Oklahoma; and Mrs. J. W. Barnett of Shawnee Oklahoma, and a half-brother, August Campbell of McCloud.
