Funeral rites for Narus Ward, World War I veteran were held at 2 pm Monday in the Baptist church in Hockerville Oklahoma with the Rev. Johnny Hobson officiating. The American Legion post of Miami conducted military rites at the grave in the G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Burial was under direction of the Goodson-Durnil funeral home. The 60 year old retired miner lived at Hockerville and had been a resident of the district for more than 30 years, Mr. Ward, who had been ill for the past three years, died Friday night at the Veterans' hospital in Muskogee Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Ward of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Milburn of Bristow Oklahoma; Mrs. Frank Hudson of McCloud Oklahoma; and Mrs. J. W. Barnett of Shawnee Oklahoma, and a half-brother, August Campbell of McCloud.
