Picher Oklahoma, Mar 4 the body of S 1/C David Rowe Shuck, former Picher high school athlete who lost his life in World War II, will arrive in Miami at 3:51 pm Saturday for services and re-burial. The son of Mrs. Etta shuck, 325 South Columbus street, the seaman was killed in action on May 3, 1944, when the U.S. destroyer on which he was assigned was sunk by German submarines off the coast of Italy. The Ottawa countian was crushed to death when a Nazi shell hit the gun he was operating. Shuck was 18 years old when he and 30 other crewmen lost their lives in the encounter at sea. While attending high school, he played on the football and basketball teams and also was an amateur boxer. Besides his mother, the sailor is survived by four brothers, Leroy, Frank, Lawrence and Earl Shuck, all of Picher. Funeral services will be announced by the Goodson funeral home.

Final rites for S 1/c David Rowe Shuck, Picher seaman who was killed in action on May 3, 1944, off the Italian coast, will be held at 2 pm Monday at the Picher Methodist church. The Rev. W. H. Wheat will officiate. Graveside will be conducted by the Picher American Legion post. Active pallbearers will be Don Thompson, Jess Bogard, Leroy Phillips, John Ford, Elmer Cash, Bernard Wimberly, Orville Ray and Gordon Minyard. Burial in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami.
