2216 C NE, Miami, died at 1:50 am, Friday, Aug 7, 1998, at Baptist Regional Health Center after a sudden illness. He was 78. Mr. Montgomery was born Feb 20, 1920, at Miami, to Edward Montgomery and Florence Hooper Montgomery. He was a lifetime Miami area resident. He was a retired lead and zinc miner and owned and operated Montgomery's Caf? on East Central in Miami for 27 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a life member of the American Legion Post in Miami and the National Rifle Association. He graduated from Miami High School in 1938. He married Virtrus Lankford on Feb 14, 1954, at Miami. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Perry Montgomery, Wyandotte Oklahoma, and a brother, Jack Montgomery, Miami. The service will be Monday, Aug 10, at 2 pm on the Paul Thomas funeral home of Miami. The Rev. Harold Neal will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery. The Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail will serve as pallbearers and will conduct military graveside rites.The Paul Thomas Funeral home of Miami in charge.
