age 76, died at his Miami home Jun 7, 1996. Born Jul 30, 1919, at Miami to John S. McGinty and Anna Blake McGinty. He had lived most of his life in Miami. He formerly had worked at the Miami Golf and country club as a caddy and later in the maintenance department. He had also been a hard rock lead and zinc miner and retired from the Eagle Picher company in 1994. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign wars Post of Welch, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. McGinty was an army Veteran of World War II, serving in the 88th Infantry Division Blue Devils. He had received the EAME Campaign Medal with two Bronze stars, and received the Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf clusters. He was married to Ida Harkins on Jan 18, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Jan 7, 1989. Mr. McGinty also was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Rufus McGinty, Bob McGinty, and J. C. McGinty. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Shirley J. Whiteley, Miami; two brothers, Floyd McGinty and Bennie L. McGinty, both of Miami; two sisters, Flora "Toots" Moore, Yucaipa California and Frances Taylor, San Bernardino California; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at the home of Bonney Whiteley and Shirley Whiteley, Miami Route 2. Funeral services are pending with the Cooper-Althouse funeral home of Miami. Services will be held 10 am, Tuesday, Jun 11th. Minister Leon Weece officiating. Pallbearers will be Jody Whiteley, Mark Whiteley, Richard McGinty, James Foreman, Norman McGinty, and James Stanley. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami.
