age 50, World War I veteran and resident of the Tri - State lead and zinc mining district for the last 20 years, died May 21, 1947, at the Veterans hospital in Muskogee at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday. He had been receiving treatment since April 7. His home was at 120 North Maple street in Commerce. He was last employed as a mill man by the Evans - Wallower Mining company. A member of the Lutheran church in Pittsburg Kansas, and of the Picher American Legion post, Marquardt is survived by his mother, Mrs. August Marquardt of Pittsburg; seven brothers, Albert, Paul, Ernest, Carl and Alvin Marquardt, all of Pittsburg, and Rufus Marquardt of Wolfe Lake, Ill., and Otto Marquardt of Columbia, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Carl Schnackenberg of Pittsburg. Services will be announced by the Goodson - Durnil funeral home.

--Funeral services for Walter E. Marquardt, 50 - year - old Commerce World war I veteran who died at the Veterans hospital in Muskogee Wednesday morning, will be conducted at the Lutheran church in Miami at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The body will lie in state at the home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Henry Hubbard, Leland Hutchens, Amos Smith, Ralph Leslie, J. C. Jeffreys and Bill Holt. Burial will be in G. A. R. cemetery under direction of the Goodson - Durnil funeral home. Besides his mother, seven brothers and a sister, Marquardt is also survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Marquardt of the home.
