Picher Oklahoma: Final rites for Private First Class Duke Kingfisher, Picher youth who was killed Jan 11, 1944, while serving with the army in Germany, will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at the Baptist church at Picher. the Rev. C. J. Mallett, assisted by the Rev. Gloyd Lukehart, will officiate. the body of Private Kingfisher is scheduled to arrive in Miami Tuesday. Kingfisher, who entered the service in Apr 1943, was 19 years old at the time of his death. he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Kingfisher Poor, of Picher; a daughter, Slyvia Kingfisher; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam kingfisher, Jay Oklahoma; four sisters, Mrs. Louise King, Mrs. Gladys Kingfisher and Miss Marion Kingfisher, all of Jay, and Mrs. Lacionda Williams, who lives in Oregon, and one brother, Elmer Kingfisher of Jay. Military services will be conducted by the Picher American Legion post. burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami.
