age 77, died at Miami hospital on Dec 31, 1999. Born Mar 4, 1922, in Midvale Idaho to Andrew Jones and Mary Belle Sanders Jones. He had lived in Miami since 1946, moving from Colorado. A veteran of World War II, serving in the 335th Infantry of the U.S. Army. He received Silver Star and Purple heart for gallantry in action against the enemy while wounded in Germany on April 5, 1945. Wounded in an enemy attack, he crawled some distance under heavy enemy fire to assist a more severely wounded comrade removing him to shelter and medical attention. He then returned to his platoon and refused to leave his command until the mission was completed and the heavy enemy resistance controlled. He was also awarded the Bronze Star. Worked in the Miami Post Office for the U.S. Postal services for 33 years, retiring 21 years ago. Married to Marjorie Winterowd, she survives. Burial in the G.A.R. cemetery, Miami.
