The body of Private First Class Orville E. Hamon, Cardin Oklahoma paratrooper who was killed in Europe on Jan 5, 1943, will arrive in Miami Thursday afternoon for final rites and re-burial. A member of Company B, 502nd Paratrooper division, the Ottawa countian was killed in the Battle of the Bulge. he entered the service in Feb 1941, and trained at Fort Benning Georgia. he was 24 at the time of death. Hamon was wounded in action late in 1943, in the European Theater while executing a parachute jump he was hospitalized for six months before returning to duty. He is survived by is mother, Mrs. Alpha Alexander, Cardin; his step-father, Archie Alexander, Cardin; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Wright, Cardin; and Mrs. Letha Davis, Kansas City Missouri; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Holley Thornton, Cardin. Hamon was employed by the Northeast Oklahoma Railroad company before entering service. he belonged to the Baptist church. Arrangements will be announced by the Goodson funeral home, Picher.

Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church in Cardin at 2 pm Friday. the Rev. W. R. Petty will officiate. Military services will be conducted by the Picher American Legion post No. 150 at G.A.R. cemetery at Miami. Pallbearers will be George Poole, Bob Abernathy, Albert Von Moss, George Griffin, Carmen Kelly and Leonard Garner.
