the body of Pfc Jack Collins, 19, when he was killed on Saipan in heavy fighting against the Japanese, will arrive here Wednesday for reburial. Young Collins, who had been reared in Miami, served about two years in the Army before he lost his life in action Jun 21, 1944. He was with the 27th U.S. infantry brigade when killed. the late Miamian had followed the harness racing circuit for two years before entering service. In that time he had helped to condition horses and for a short period was in the employ of Virgil D. Cooper, owner of the Cooper funeral home. Collins is survived by his mother, Mrs. Erma Collins, 722 East Central avenue; two brothers, Ralph Collins and Glenn Collins, both of Miami and a sister Mrs. Robert Sherley of Modesta California. The body, which will arrive here at 12:38 pm Wednesday will be taken immediately to G.A.R. cemetery in Miami, where the VFW will hold military rites. Russell Martin, pastor of the First Christian church, will officiate at the service. Burial will be under direction of Cooper funeral home.
