Captain Buttry, a lifelong resident of Miami before entering the Air Force 12 years ago, died Friday evening in the crash of a jet plane in Louisiana. He was 32 years old. The career airman was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Buttry, who lived at 122 A street northeast, Miami. details of the crash were not immediately reported by Air Force authorities but it was learned that Buttry crashed while delivering a jet from the Charleston South Carolina Airbase to San Francisco California. He was stationed at Charleston. Buttry enlisted in the Air Force as a cadet in 1943 and served as a pilot through the remainder of World War II. He also was in the Korean Conflict, flying 102 missions. Surviving, besides the parents, are his wife, Lorene Buttry and a daughter, Danna Jean Buttry of the home in Charleston and a sister, Mrs. Doris Jane Haire, of Yonkers New York. Captain Buttry was a member of the First Christian church of Miami. the body will be returned to Miami for funeral services and burial, which will be under direction of the Cooper mortuary.
