On account of the distance and the dry hot weather the people of this community were prevented attending the funeral of J. B. Barlow last Tuesday. Ottawa News Column.

John B. Barlow, age 68 years, an old veteran of the Civil War, died at the old Kipps place on Olive street, Sunday evening last at 7 o'clock. Deceased had been afflicted with rheumatism for the past year and had been confined to his bed and room. He leaves a widow and several sons and daughters, all married. He had lived in Ottawa and Wyandotte Oklahoma for the past 24 years coming here from McDonald county Missouri. Uncle Jerry Hubbard, his friend during the past quarter of a century officiated at the funeral, conducting the services at the Friends church Tuesday, after which the remains were taken in charge by the Local G.A.R. Post of which he was a member. Interment was in the City cemetery.

died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chancey Kipps on Olive street, Miami, Sunday evening at 7:30 pm after a long illness. age 68 years. Funeral services will be held today.
