Harold Youngman and Loyd Youse purchased the Rest-A-White resort on the east shore of the lake on Spring River, a mile east and one mile south of Riverton, off Highway 66. They purchased the resort from Bill White. The purchase included 30 acres of land, which has been surveyed, platted and a section of which has been divided into lots; the hotel; 11 cottages, six of which are privately owned; a boathouse and locker rooms. All buildings are equipped with 60 cycle, 120 volt electricity, natural gas and a pressure water system. The two young mining men, seeing the need for a place of wholesome recreation and rest, a place where people, tired of the busy grind of activity, might play and relax. After weeks of remodeling and reconditioning, the young proprietor plan their opening for June 1. Mrs. Elizabeth Moore, who formerly operated the clubhouse of the Eagle-Picher Company at Picher Oklahoma, will be in charge of the dining room. Mrs. Moore has a wide circle of friends among mining groups. Bill White, former owner, who will be overseer of the grounds will be in charge of the boathouse and docks. Bill is a mighty pleasant sort of man and is well like by everyone who knows him. Speedboat races have been held at Rest-A-While annually for the last five years. These races attract thousands of persons each year. You might inquire of Mr. Youngman to learn if barbecue sandwiches will be of the Duroc variety, and fresh from his farm near Faulkner.
