The mining industry lost a valuable man in the death of Frank G. Willis, who died Tuesday at his home in Baxter Springs Kansas. Mr. Willis was active in the development of the Cripple Creek camp in Colorado. At one time was trustee of the Colorado school of Mines. He was also city engineer for the city of Baxter Springs for 15 years. A member of the First Presbyterian church and the Baxter Springs Kansas Kiwanis club. Mr. Willis was active in all community affairs which were for the good of the town in which he lived. For many years, he had been chairman of the Baxter Springs Kansas chapter of the American Red Cross. And it is in this vicinity that he will be remembered by the largest number of people. He was ever ready to do his bit in meeting any emergencies which arose. He displayed great wisdom in the discharge of his duties as local head of this important organization. Regardless of which it might be, to aid in a great crisis or to meet a local situation, he was every ready to act and he always acted wisely. As a mining engineer his counsel was regarded as most valuable. So it is that the mining industry of the Tri-State field and the residents of Baxter Springs mourn the loss of this gentle man.
