76 year old father of Paul Wheelan, Commerce Oklahoma businessman, died at his home in Galena Kansas at 4:40 Saturday morning, following several months illness. Mr. Wheelen had been a resident of Galena since 1916 where he was employed at the Eagle-Picher Smelter Company. He had worked in the coal mines in Greenwood Arkansas several years before living in Galena. He was born in Muscatine county Iowa, Jul 15, 1872. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Wheelen of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Vera Abbott of Washington D.C., two sons, Roy M. Wheelen of Galena and Paul Bus' Wheelen of Commerce Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Lottie Harreld of Galena, and three grandchildren, Paul Wylie Wheelen of Commerce and Barbara Wheelen and Roy Wheelen, Jr., of Galena. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon...burial was in Hillcrest cemetery near Galena.
