Abstract Data

George A. Walbert, 73, chairman of the board of Miami Urban Renewal Authority, died at 8:15 pm Wednesday at his home, 800 Garfield Blvd, Miami. Mr. Walbert was born Aug 10, 1897, in Bridgeport Connecticut, and moved to Joplin Missouri in 1924. He came to Miami in 1936 and is assistant comptroller for Eagle-Picher Industries. He retired eight years ago after 26 years of service with Eagle-Picher. Mr. Walbert was a graduate of the University of Illinois, a veteran of World War I, a trustee of First Presbyterian church and a member of the Masonic lodge in Joplin. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jessica M. Walbert, of the home; a son, George A. Walbert, Jr., Dallas Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Worrell, Jackson Mississippi; a brother, W. A. Walbert, Hemet California; two sisters, Mrs. R. W. Clanksy, Glen Ellyn Illinois, and Mrs. W. D. MacMillian, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and five grandchildren. Final rites will be held at 2 pm Saturday at the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. J. Don Kruithol officiating. Other arrangements are incomplete at the Cooper funeral home.
