died at 8:20 pm July 4, 1998, at Grove Oklahoma General Hospital of a massive heart attack he was 76. Mr. VanDorn was born June 28, 1922, in west Seneca Missouri on Ottawa-Shawnee allotted Indian land. He married White Dove Lorraine Enke on June 30, 1970, in Neosho Missouri, he worked in the mines until they closed and then was transferred to Eagle- Picher Company in Joplin Missouri. He retired from Eagle-Picher after 30 years. Mr. VanDorn entered the United States Army on Nov 2, 1942, and served with honor during World War II. He was awarded the American Defense Service Ribbon, Philippine Liberation with One Star, Good conduct Medal and the Bronze Arrowhead. On Dec 21, 1945, he was honorably discharged from active duty. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine VanDorn, West Seneca; four sons, Carl C. J.' VanDorn, Loren Dean J.R.' VanDorn Jr., William Glen VanDorn, Neosho, and Larry Lynn VanDorn, Norman Oklahoma; two daughters, Lorena DeAnn Lynn, Colcord, and Goldie Parthenia Bradford, Neosho, four brothers, Allen Vandorn, Jo Ellis Vandorn, Ralph Vandorn and Chester VanDorn, all of Neosho Missouri, and John Jake' Richard Vandorn, Joplin, and two sisters, Betty VanDorn and Marie Whitehead, both of Neosho. Mr. VanDorn was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph All VanDorn and Goldie Gilstrap Vandorn; two brothers Rex VanDorn and Phil VanDorn and one sister, Violet Myers. Visitation will be from 9 am to 8 pm today at Hinderliter- Woodard funeral service chapel, Grove Oklahoma. The Indian graveside service will be conducted by Richard White, at 10 am Thursday at Burkhart cemetery in Racine Missouri, followed by military rites. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association.
