September 24, 2000, Dennis Gerald Vader Sr., died September. He was born at Spurgeon Missouri, on Jan 23, 1919, to John Arthur Vader and Laura Sanders Vader. He was employed as a miner by Grace and Janett Mining Company of Baxter Springs Kansas, from May 1936, until joining the Army in May 1942. He served with Company B, 336th Engineer Combat Battalion, in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge on Dec 20, 1945. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars. He married Norma Jean Taylor on Dec 1, 1946, Dennis and Jean lived in Baxter Springs Kansas, and attended First Baptist Church. Dennis and Jean were baptized on Easter Sunday of 1947. He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Jean Vader; his son, Dennis G. Vader Jr. and his wife, Juanita Vader, of Webster Texas; his daughter, Connie J. Houston and her husband, Gary Houston, of Joplin Missouri; grandchildren, Charis Palmer, Timothy Virgin, Rhonda Martin, Ryan Kallas of Joplin, Michelle Gagnon and her husband, Tom Gagnon of Ozark Missouri, Dana Skarra and her husband, Dustin Skarra, of Sitka Alabama, Greg Houston of Denver Colorado, and Nicole Houston of Kansas City Missouri; great-grandchildren, Taylor McGee, Addyson Virgin, Corey Beaver, Zo Beaver of Joplin, and Alex Gagnon of Ozark Missouri; one sister, Elsie Mitchell of Sand Springs Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Memorial services will be held Sunday, Oct 1, at Second Assembly of God, located at Perkins and Schifferdecker, at 2:00 pm.
