age 76, passed away Nov 14, 2000 at 1:35 am at Freeman West hospital at Joplin Missouri, after an illness. Mr. Thurman was born Apr 11, 1924 in Joplin. He has been a lifetime resident of Joplin. He was a member of the Royal Heights Baptist Church. He was in the Army and a veteran of World War II. He worked as a taxi cab driver, a miner for C.K.E. Mine, and retired from W. R. Grace Mine in Joplin. He married Dorothy Sullivan on Sep 17, 1945 in Joplin. She survives. Additional survivors include one son, John Thurman of Joplin; three daughters, Joyce Carey, Jeanette Cawyer and Janice Wade, all of Duenweg Missouri; one brother, Charles Chris Thurman of Waco Missouri; two sisters, Coralee Reed of Joplin, Alice Elizabeth Jack of Oklahoma City Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Thurman has been taken for cremation.
