died at 8 am Friday, Jul 23, 1999, at Leigh Manor Nursing Center, Picher Oklahoma. He was 82. He was born Aug 4, 1916, in Joplin Missouri to Martin Thompson and Julia French Thompson. He lived in the Picher/rural Miami area all of his life. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a former stockman as well as for the Eagle-Picher Mining Company in the lead and zinc mines. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Picher. He married Juanita Kelly on Jun 26, 1940, in Joplin Missouri. She survives of the home in rural Miami. Additional survivors include seven sons, Joel Thompson, Picher, James Thompson and Jack Thompson, both of Miami, Jon Thompson, Riverton Kansas, Joseph Thompson, Jenks Oklahoma, Jacob Thompson, Cleveland Oklahoma, and Jeffery Thompson, Olatha Kansas; four daughters, Joane Manning, Miami, Joy Thompson, Jeane Pettus, and Jessica Thompson, all of Stillwater Oklahoma; two brothers, Harold Thompson, Little Rock Arkansas, and Carl Raymond Thompson, Bloomer Wisconsin; two sisters, Adeline Collins, Picher, and Mary Elizabeth Thomas, Chicago Illinois; 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Thompson. The service will be 10 am Monday, at the Paul Thomas funeral home chapel, Picher, with the Rev. Lloyd Stone officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami. The sons will serve as pallbearers.
