Odessa "Doc" Thompson, a retired independent lead and zinc mine operator, died here at his home, 412 North Connell avenue, Picher Oklahoma, at 4 am today. Thompson, 69 years old, had been in poor health for the last 18 months. A resident of the Tri-State area since 1929, Thompson operated several small mining properties for many years before retiring. Survivors include two sons, Armine Thompson of Baxter Springs Kansas, and Bob Thompson of Picher; four daughters, Mrs. Melvin Perry of Cardin Oklahoma, Mrs. Duff Coble of Picher, Mrs. Wiley Armstrong of Columbus Kansas, and Mrs. Delbert Lovelace of Biloxi Mississippi; a brother, John Thompson, and a sister, Mrs. Agnes Johnson, both of Joplin Missouri, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements for services and burial will be announced by the Hunter funeral home of Picher.

Funeral services for Odessa Doc' Thompson, 69 year old retired independent mine operator, will be conducted at the First Baptist church in Picher at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. C. E. Bergen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dub Huffman, Bob Montgomery, Ralph Anderson, Fred Poor, Dude Bradbury and Homer Riggs. Burial will be in Forest Park cemetery at Joplin under direction of the Hunter funeral home of Picher. The body will lie in state at the mortuary until the funeral hour. Thompson died at his home, 412 North Connell avenue, Picher, on Monday.
