Tharp, William Henry


Abstract Data

A fractured hip he received in a fall at his home Feb 24 led to the death at 6:30 p.m. Friday of William Henry Tharp, 80 years old, who had resided at 509 South Connell avenue, Picher Oklahoma. He died at Picher hospital. Tharp, a retired mill man, had resided in the Tri-State district since 1924. He had formerly lived in Webb City Missouri, before moving to Picher. He retired from his work in 1935. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Tharp; four sons, Raymond Tharp of Pontiac Michigan, Ed Tharp and James Tharp, both of Picher, and Oscar of Baxter Springs Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Edge and Mrs. Ogda Horn, both of Galena Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Charleston of Webb City; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Goodson-Durnil chapel in Picher. The Rev. James Davis of Tulsa will officiate. Burial will be in Carterville Missouri cemetery. Grandsons of the deceased will be pallbearers.
