Teague, Jack

Abstract Data

Teague and associates, who are sinking a shaft on a strip of ground located between the Hunter land and the Discard Mine property, south of Baxter Springs Kansas, struck a rich run of lead and zinc at the 70 feet level Tuesday night. This is believed to be the same run of ore that was mined by the Wade brothers last fall. A sinking derrick was erected and a cone friction hoist, powered by a gasoline motor, was installed. Air for drilling operations is secured from the Wade Company. Ore rock will be milled at the Wade Mill. Teague's associates are Walter Barney' Barnett, Louis Reyburn and Dee Poole, all of Baxter Springs.

A new lease on the New Blue Mound Mining Company's 80 acre tract, just north of Picher Oklahoma on the Kansas side of the stateline, has been renewed to Jack Teague of Baxter Springs, who has been mining the lease for the last five years. Underground operations will be resumed at the mine in the near future. The old lease does not expire until Dec 2 of this year. The mill has a capacity of approximately150 tons to the eight hour shift. Three years time would be required to retreat the tailings and slimes now on the lease. A flotation plant on the lease is being operated by J. A. Jess' Worley of the W. and B. Milling Company. Bill Lewis of Commerce and George B. Cox of Picher and Joplin Missouri purchased Ted Sherwood's interest in the New Blue Mound Mining Company in March of this year.
