age 62, of Baxter Springs Kansas, died in a hospital at Joplin Missouri at 9 am Thursday, Mr. Swalley had been a lifetime resident of the Baxter Springs community, and death followed a year of illness. Until three years ago he resided on a farm two miles west of Baxter Springs with his father, the late Abe Swalley. Mr. Swalley owned several farms around Baxter Springs and real estate in that city and was interested in the mining industry. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Walter Swalley, Joe. E. Swalley and William Swalley, Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. R. Porris and two grandchildren, all of Baxter Springs. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Baxter at 2 pm Sunday with the Rev. William Hubbard officiating, assisted by the Rev. Walter Michtner. Rites at the grave will be under the auspices of the IOOF lodge. Pallbearers will be Harry Harley, Clarence Rumery, Martin Weiss, Chester L. Stotts, I. T. Hocker and Lynn E. Wilds.
