age 80, Miami, died at 2:45 pm, Saturday, Jan 11, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after an illness. Mr. Surridge was born Jul 31, 1916, at Alba Missouri to Thomas and Emma Murphy Surridge. He had lived in the Miami area for the past 25 years, moving here from McCune Kansas. He had been an electrician for 46 years and had worked for Eagle-Picher Mining Company as an electrician for several years. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist church, Miami, and the Masonic Lodge, McCune. Mr. Surridge married Betty Pyle on Dec 1, 1989, in Miami. She survives. Additional survivors include a son, Charles Surridge, Jr., Hawaii; four brothers, George Surridge, Miami, Bob Surridge, Oolagah Oklahoma, Jerry Surridge, Springfield Missouri, and Roy Surridge, Pittsburg Kansas; a sister, Margie Lanford, Seneca Missouri; and three grandchildren. The service will be 1 pm, Tuesday, Jan 14, at the Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami, with the Rev. Carl Pollard and the Rev. Dewey Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, Miami. Pallbearers will be Charles Pyle, George Welch, Butch Mangold, Fred James, Ralph McKinley, and Mark Jones. Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami.
