211 First Street southeast, Miami, died 12:33 pm Thursday, Aug 29, 1996, at St. John's Regional medical center, Joplin Missouri, from injuries sustained in an accident at Liebherr Mining Truck Inc., Baxter Springs Kansas, where he was employed. He was 59. Mr. Suman was born Dec 4, 1936, at Joplin to Alonzo Roy Suman and Ruby Pearl Bond Suman. He served in the United States Army. He had lived in Miami for the past 10 years, moving from Cardin Oklahoma. He was employed by Liebherr Mining Truck Inc., Baxter Springs, working in the shipping and receiving department. He had worked for Paul Thomas funeral home several years ago. He was a member and deacon of Harvest time Tabernacle, Miami. Mr. Suman married Susie Strickland on Nov 26, 1957, at Hockerville Oklahoma. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Bond Suman and Allison Suman, Jr., Miami; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin Teel and Tom Teel, Grove Oklahoma; a brother Alonzo "Soupy" Suman, Picher Oklahoma; two sisters, Peggy Suman, Miami, and Dorothy Mae Williams, Picher; and three grandchildren. Services will be 10 am Saturday, Aug 31, at Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami with the Rev. Gordon Chirillo officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami. Pallbearers will be Ron Leist, Don Williams, David Clark, Steve McGhee, Scott Cole and Bud Wynn. Military rites will be conducted by the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm tonight at the Paul Thomas funeral home, Miami. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert B. Suman, Sr. Memorial Fund in care of the Bank of Miami. Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas funeral home Miami.
