A 40 year old Picher Oklahoma miner, was found dead with a bullet hole in his chest on U. S. highway 60 inside Ottawa county Oklahoma, a quarter of mile from Seneca Missouri at about 7:30 pm Sunday. After interviewing several witnesses, including relatives of the dead man, this morning, county attorney, said he was waiting to question a Seneca police officer before charges were filed in connection with Sullivan's death. The Seneca officer, who was to be in the county attorney's office at noon today, failed to make his appearance by 2 pm after taking part in the investigation at the scene of the fatal incident, Sheriff D. T. Watters said today he was notified by telephone at about 8 pm Sunday night that "somebody killed a man near Seneca Missouri." In company with Milt McCullough, his deputy, and the county attorney, Sheriff Watters said they found Sullivan's body lying on the road a few feet from a 1938 Plymouth sedan. An unfired .45 caliber pistol believed to have belonged to the dead man, was found near his body, the sheriff said. Sullivan, officers asserted was wearing an empty pistol holster. Although he resigned as night watchman from the Picher police force a month ago, Sullivan still retained a commission as special Picher officer, it was reported. Sullivan's survivors include his wife, Mrs. Theresa Sullivan; two daughters, Dora Sullivan and Ruth Sullivan; a son, John Sullivan, all of the home, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Sullivan of Peoria Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Durnil funeral home of Picher.
