Funeral services for Charles Newton Stewart, 76, a Picher Oklahoma resident since 1924 who died Friday night while visiting at the home of a daughter in Aurora Missouri, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Aurora First Baptist church. The Rev. C. E. Bergen, Picher, and the Rev. Fred McPhail will officiate. Mr. Stewart was an employee of the Eagle-Picher company for 24 years before his retirement in 1947. He had been in ill health for about 10 days. The deceased, who resided at 442 South Francis Street, Picher, was a member of the Picher Baptist church and of the Aurora Royal Neighbors club. He had lived at Aurora before moving to Picher. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Bessie O'Kelley, Aurora; Mrs. Zelma Thomas, Modesto California; Mrs. Irene Holt, Tulsa Oklahoma, and Mrs. Pauline Battin, Casper Wyoming; a brother, Bert B. Stewart, Santa Monica California; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Carson and Mrs. Mary Sullivan, both of Aurora, and Mrs. Alcia Holder, Marionville Missouri; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The body will lie in state prior to funeral services at the Stewart home. Burial will be in Maple Park cemetery, Aurora, under direction of Thomas funeral home, Picher.
