Abstract Data

of Bothell Washington, widely-known former Miami resident, died at her Bothell home late Saturday night. She was 56 years old. Mrs. Staton, who had resided the last 15 years in California and Washington state, erected the American Legion building here in 1927 and gave the key to second floor quarters to Floyd L. Perry post No. 147. Several years ago, the legion purchased the building from her. Once owner of large mining interests, Mrs. Staton acquired holdings from the Cardin family estate [the family that the town was named after]. Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. F. B. Weinhimer of Long Beach California, where Mrs. Staton herself had lived for several years before moving to Washington; four sons, Traverse Staton, Lloyd Staton, Earl Staton and Randolph Staton, all of Miami, and a brother, Oscar Cardin, who was at his sister's home when death came. The body will be returned to Miami and be received Thursday by the Cooper funeral home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah C. Staton, former Miami woman who died last Saturday night at her home in Bothell, will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the First Christian church. The Rev. C. E. Berry will officiate. Pallbearers will be Harvey Gordon, Rodney Arnette, John Salling, Guy Jennison, Bob McCorkle and Albert Laffoon. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery, Miami, under direction of the Cooper funeral home.
