Age 64, year old retired hoisterman, died at 3:20 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home in Douthat Oklahoma. He had been ill four years. Mr. Spell was born May 10, 1887 in Carthage Missouri, coming to this district in 1916, where he had made his home since. He was formerly employed at the Golden Rod Mine. Survivors include a brother, Ralph Spell of Joplin Missouri; four sisters, Mrs. Tom Morgan and Mrs. Lea Winsette, both of Oklahoma City Oklahoma; and Mrs. Myrtle Pratt and Mrs. Florence Herndon, both of Williamette Oregon; three nieces and nine nephews. Services will be held Friday afternoon at the Morton Lundy funeral chapel with the Rev. Mike Patrick of Quapaw, officiating. Burial will be in the Carterville Missouri cemetery under the direction of the Morton Lundy funeral home of Picher.

A miner and Douthat resident for the past 35 years, Harry Spell, 64 years old, died Wednesday afternoon at his home. A native of Carthage, Spell had been employed as a hoisterman at the Golden Rod Mine and Rialto Mine before being forced by poor health into retirement four years ago. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Morton-Lundy chapel in Picher. The Rev. Mike Patrick of Quapaw will officiate. Grave side rites will be conducted at the Carterville cemetery.
