Sparks, O. W.
Abstract Data
A leading citizen of the mining town of Galena Kansas. He became a millionaire several times from his mining ventures. "The mining district deeply regrets the passing of O. W. Sparks, former state senator and veteran mine operator. Senator Sparks was a fine example of the old school of citizenship at its best. He played an important part in the development of the mining industry in this field and his popularity always was as great with the lowliest worked as with the leading business men of the field a fact evidenced by his repeated election to public office as a Democrat in a county preponderantly Republican. Galena and Cherokee county Kansas will never have a resident more loyal or more capably energetic in promoting their interest at all times and under all circumstances, yet, his interest and activities extended throughout the entire Tri-State District."
