A resident of Joplin Missouri for many years, died May 24, 1946, age 52, at the home of his brother, after a long illness. He had been at the home of his brother for the past fifteen days. He was born at Gainsville Missouri, and worked as a hard rock lead and zinc miner. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Maudie Smith of Baxter Springs Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Vaught of Oakland California, and Mrs. Della Baley of Baxter Springs; five brothers, Patrick Smith of Washington state, Martie Smith of California, Lois Smith of Picher Oklahoma and John Smith and Edward Smith of Baxter Springs.
