Funeral services for Alva M. Smith, 66 year old retired mine operator and resident of North Miami Oklahoma since 1906, will be conducted at the Christian church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. John Seward will officiate. He will be assisted by Robert J. Bridges. Pallbearers will be Jim Adams, George Broyles, Hank Corbus and Bussie Corbus, Harold Allen and Mike Stevenson. The body will lie in state at the Mitchelson chapel in Commerce Oklahoma until the funeral hour. A member of the Christian church, Smith died at his home here at 4:45 p.m. Monday. He was active in the lead and zinc mining industry as an independent operator for many years after moving to North Miami 48 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gertie Smith of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Mamie Munson of Miami; two sons, Ralph Smith of Wyandotte Oklahoma Route 1 and Leon Smith of Commerce; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Mason and Miss Ellen Smith, both of Paducah Kentucky, and Mrs. Margie Lee Johnson of Middleburg New York, and a brother, Earl Hobson Smith of Harrogate Tennessee.
