Pioneer Miami business man and banker, died at his home at Miami, 212 A Street northwest, age 79. Mr. Skelton had been in ill health for several years...Coming to Miami in 1912, Mr. Skelton entered the mine leasing business. He handled a number of hard rock lead and zinc mining leases in the Hockerville Oklahoma district. Beginning in 1915 he associated with C. P. Williams, S. J. Sullivan and W. A. Wagoner in the old Oklahoma-Kansas Royalty Company...Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday at the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. Harry W. Curtis will officiate. The body will lie in state until the funeral hour Wednesday at the Cooper chapel...His wife, the late Mrs. Hannah Skelton, died Feb 13, 1935. He is survived by two brothers, Hiram Skelton of Colingo California and R. J. Skelton of Los Angeles California, Mrs. Mary Malocsay of Miami is a niece. Pallbearers will be R. J. Tuthill, Walter Williams, O. Hadley, J. G. Austin, George Cunningham and George Bomford. There is a photo with the article. Burial will be Jan 19, 1938, in G.A.R. cemetery under direction of the Cooper funeral home.
