Abstract Data

longtime resident of Quapaw Oklahoma died Sep 7, 1970, age 70, at 6:10 pm Monday in the Baxter Memorial hospital. He had been a patient seven weeks. Mr. Sills, who lived at 219 Virginia avenue, Quapaw, was born Jul 31, 1900 in Joplin Missouri. He was an independent hard rock lead and zinc mine operator, working the Picher Oklahoma fields until his retirement some 14 years ago. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Grace Sills of the home, two sons, Grover Sills of Kansas City Missouri, and Carl Sills of Tulsa Oklahoma; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Taylor and Mrs. Carlene Neal, both of Baxter Springs Kansas; Mrs. Crystal Carpenter of Portland Oregon, Mrs. Wilma B----- of Greenville Kentucky and Mrs. Francis Doolen of Valley Center Kansas; three brothers Roy Sills of Joplin, Orville Sills of Beaumont California and Melvin Sills, address unknown; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Newcomb of Columbus Kansas Rt 1 and Mrs. Pearl Sanders and Mrs. Hazel Gailey, both of Quapaw; 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
