Abstract Data

69 year old resident of this area for the past 32 years, passed away at his home at 304 North Pearl Street, Thursday morning. He had been ill the past five years. He was born February 11, 1882 in Galena, Kansas. He was united in marriage in 1912 with Ruby Montgomery. They lived in Joplin from 1912 to 1918, where he worked in the mines. In 1918 they moved to Picher Oklahoma, where they have lived since Mr. Secrest has worked with various mining companies in the district. Survivors besides his widow, include one son, Howard Secrest of the home; two daughters, Miss Helen Secrest of Guymon Oklahoma; and Mrs. Lorraine Holt of Wichita Kansas; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Morton Lundy chapel with the Rev. Elda Keithley of Joplin officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery at Galena Kansas.
