Scott, J. M.

Research Notes:Scott, known as "Death Valley Scotty," was a renowned Galena Kansas miner who made mining look easy. Scott held a mining lease that he sporadically worked as he needed cash. Others had tried to work the lease continuously but failed. Scott was the envy of many as his winter fishing money, more than $5,000, was earned in a few days of October 1912. This came from "Spotlight on Galena" in the Joplin Globe, Joplin Missouri - 2000.
