Abstract Data

60 year old lead and zinc miner, died at his home in Quapaw Oklahoma Sunday at noon. Schofield was employed by the Cameron-Henderson Mining Company for many years before he became ill about three years ago. He was a resident of Picher Oklahoma since 1949. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Opal Schofield, of the home; six sons, Glenn Schofield, Chetopa Kansas, Harvey L. Schofield of the U. S. Air force in Clovis New Mexico, and Billy Schofield, Henry Schofield, Danny Schofield and Bart Schofield, all of the home; nine daughters, Mrs. Bertha Shockley, Quapaw Oklahoma, Mrs. Bonnie Curry, Carthage Missouri, Mrs. Betty Folk and Mrs. Dorothy Taylor, both of Chetopa, and Shirley Schofield, Rose Edna Schofield, Deloris Schofield, Connie Schofield and Georgia Ann Schofield, all of the home; four sisters, Mrs. May Ross and Mrs. Georgia French, both of Joplin Missouri, Mrs. Lily Sears, Galena Kansas, and Mrs. Mary Barbie, Denver Colorado, and 14 grandchildren. The body was received by the Thomas funeral home of Picher. Arrangements for services and burial are incomplete.

Final rites for James Harvey Schofield, 60 year old lead and zinc miner who died at his home in Quapaw Sunday, will be conducted at the Full Gospel church there at 2 p. m. Wednesday. The Rev. Robert Denton of Picher will officiate. Pallbearers will be Terry Brittle, Harley Owens, Hank Hall, Joe VanHoose, Orville Ridgeway and Joe Curry. Burial will be in the Hillcrest cemetery at Galena Kansas, under direction of the Thomas funeral home in Picher.
