John R. Schaumleffel, retired engineer and welding shop operator, died last midnight at his home in Cardin following a long illness. He was 79 years old. Mr. Schaumleffel moved to Hattonville Oklahoma, now Commerce, in 1912, and for many years was an engineer with the Commerce Mining and Royalty Company, until its sale to Eagle-Picher Company in 1938. Later he was associated with the Mineral Belt welding shop in Cardin until his retirement about 10 years ago. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace Schaumleffel, of the home; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Porter, Tulsa Oklahoma, and a brother, Clifford Schaumleffel, who lives in Canada. The body was received by the Mitchelson funeral home of Commerce.
