Word was received in Baxter Springs Kansas, yesterday of the death Wednesday night in a Kalamazoo Michigan, hospital of John Royse, resident of Baxter Springs and for many years a well known driller in the Tri-State mining district. According to word received, Mr. Royse's death was due directly to pneumonia, however he had been a patient at the hospital there for more than a week suffering from a complication of diseases. It had been found that he had been suffering from high blood pressure and an infection which developed in the blood stream. The Royces had been living in Bloomingdale Michigan, where Mr. Royce and his son-in-law, Charles Stoskopf, also of Baxter Springs, had been drilling for about a year. Mr. Royse also spent several years drilling in Colorado. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Angeline Stoskopf; a brother, Harry Royse; and two sisters, Mrs. Wingo of Joplin Missouri and another sister, living in California. Information received stated that the body would arrive in Joplin early today and be received by a Joplin funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
