317 Virginia Street, Quapaw Oklahoma, died Mar 10, 1996, age 81, at 12:10 pm, Sunday, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after an illness. Mr. Roy was born Jul 16, 1914, at Atoka Oklahoma, to James Roy and Alma Smith Roy. He moved from the New Joplin Oklahoma community near Douthat Oklahoma to Quapaw in 1920. Mr. Roy was a lead and zinc miner and worked for General Power Company in Quapaw. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Roy, on Sep 25, 1986. Survivors include one step-daughter, Nancy Rogers, Miami; two sisters, Avalon Dowty, rural Galena Kansas, and Beulah Gos, Hemet California; three step-grand children. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Mar 12, 1996, at 10 am, at the Baxter Springs Kansas cemetery. Paul Ingram Thomas will deliver the eulogy. Services will be under the direction of the Paul Thomas funeral home of Picher.
