Despairing of recovering his health, W. L. Rogers, 48, formerly of Picher Oklahoma, killed himself with a bullet in the head Sunday, Undersheriff Paul K. Jenkins asserted, after fatally shooting his wife. Mrs. A. Wilson who witnessed the shooting, said Rogers had promised his wife, "a nice surprise" when she returned home, Jenkins reported. Mrs. Rogers also was reportedly in ill health, and Jenkins said her husband left a note saying "I love my wife, and as I am going to commit suicide, I think I shall take her with me as I do not want to leave her to face the world alone." The bodies are en route to Joplin Missouri.
