Rodgers, Norman Olen

Abstract Data

21 years old was killed instantly at 12:15 o'clock Friday morning when he became entangled in a live wire which had fallen into the Street at the corner of Netta and Fourth Streets, Picher Oklahoma. Accompanied by his wife, Joye Marie Kodgers, he was returning to his home at 410 South Netta Street, Picher, after visiting with relatives. Street lights were out and it is presumed that the wire had fallen in the early part of the night since it had not been reported down during the day. Mrs. Rodgers attempted to free her husband and then rushed to neighbors to summon a Goodson ambulance. Rodgers was taken to Miami Baptist hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. A miner, Rodgers had resided at Picher all his life. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Picher post of the V.F.W. Surviving besides his widow are two small daughters, Donnie Joann Rodgers and Martha Rodgers; two brothers Carrell Rodgers and Herby Joe Rodgers, and two sisters, Vera Mae Rodgers and Beverly Rodgers, all of Picher; a grandmother, Mrs. Florence Raines of Hockerville Oklahoma, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Armel Rodgers of Fairview Missouri. Funeral services were conducted at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Goodson chapel by Mr. C. J. Mallett. Burial was in the Muncy cemetery near Wheaton Missouri.
