Miami, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb 11, 2001, at Miami Nursing Center, after an illness. He was 84. Mr. Robinson was born Jan 18, 1917, at Miami, to John A. Robinson and Leatha Lee Robinson. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Kemper Military Academy, and later graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in business. He served as a flight instructor for the Spartan School of Aeronautics and taught flying to the British Boys.' He then worked as a bookkeeper for the Blue Goose Mine, and owned and operated the RY Oil Company. He was a former president and chairman of the board of First National Bank of Miami, the former Miami National Bank, and a former president and a former president and chairman of the board of the Miami Industrial Development Authority. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Miami. He was an avid golfer and hunter. He married Sue Nelle Nesbitt on Mar 29, 1940, at Miami. She preceded him in death on Feb 10, 1994. Survivors include two sons, David Robinson, Woodland Park Colorado, and John F. Robinson Jr., Miami; two daughters, Ruth Robinson, Miami, and Ellen Robinson Antoine, Los Angeles California; two sisters, Catherine Staley, Boca Raton Florida, and Betty McNaughton, Ft. Worth Texas; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The service is 2 pm Wednesday, at the Cooper-Althouse funeral home chapel, with minister Leon Weece officiating. Burial is in G.A.R. cemetery in Miami.
