46 years old well known former mine operator of the Tri-State district, died at 6:55 o'clock last night at home in Treece Kansas. Mr. Ritter was familiarly known as "Coal-oil Johnny." For eight years he was general ground foreman for the Blue Mound Mining Company. Upon leasing Blue Mound Mine property, Mr. Ritter and associates operated the mine for four years, when his health began failing about two years ago, he went to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he remained seven months without gaining any benefit. Mr. Ritter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Ritter, a sister Mrs. Marie Warren of Joplin Missouri, and four brothers, Warren Ritter of Stillwater Oklahoma, Norman Ritter of Albuquerque, and C. W. Ritter and Edward Ritter of Joplin. Funeral services will be held at the family home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Flippin, pastor of Blendville Christian church will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park cemetery, Joplin, by the Todd undertaking company, Picher.
