age 66, 1645 D Street Northeast, Miami, died at 2:15 am today at Baptist Regional hospital after a long illness. Born Jan 1, 1923, at Pittsburg Kansas, and had lived in the Miami area most of his life. A retired miner, he had worked in the hard rock lead and zinc mines in, and around, Picher Oklahoma. He was a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Juvene Read, of the home; four sons, Charles Read, Leslie Read, Jimmy Read and Billy Read, all of Miami; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Rausch, Mrs. Nadie Reeves, Mrs. Terrie Rhines, and Melissa Read, all of Miami; a brother, William D. Read, Libbey Montana; a sister, Mary F. Pierson, Columbus Kansas; his step-mother, Ruth Read, Columbus; and 21 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be William Reeves, Jr., Brian Reeves, George Dainty, Steve Cummings, Johnny Thompkins and Bobby Tompkins. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW, American Legion, DAVs, Ex-Pows and Vietnam Veteran. ...burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami.
