Raymond, Jay Walker

Abstract Data

J. A. Walker went to Joplin Missouri Sunday to make arrangements to have an indigent person buried, who died at the St. John's hospital last Friday evening. This person was Jay Raymond who was sent from Cardin Oklahoma. He had pneumonia and died in 40 minutes after arriving at the hospital. He had no relatives or close friends here, and is said to have recently come to the mining field from Michigan. He was 28 years old. A lot was purchased in Fairview cemetery, Joplin, and an undertaking firm attended to the burial. It cost the county about $50 to give a respectable burial, but its magnanimity saved the unfortunate man from the Potter's field.
