58 year old miner, died at 7:30 o'clock Monday evening at his home, 1937 Lincoln avenue, in Baxter Springs Kansas. His death followed an illness of several years, and his condition had been critical for the last six months. He had been employed by the Eagle-Picher Mining and Smelting Company for 23 years. He was born in Harrison Arkansas. He came to this district 23 years ago and had lived in Baxter Springs and in Treece Kansas. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Icie Ransom; two sons, Frank Ransom of Baxter Springs and Cecil Ransom of Galena; two daughters, Miss Bertha Ransom and Miss Virgie Ransom of Tulsa Oklahoma; three grandchildren, and two brothers, Fred Ransom of El Cajon California, and Bill Ransom of Great Bend Oregon.

Funeral services for John D. Ranson, 58, a miner, who died at 7:30 o'clock Monday evening at his home, 1937 Lincoln avenue in Baxter Springs, will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Hoskins-Wene funeral home. The Rev. A. H. Shawgo of Columbus will be in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Baxter Springs cemetery.
