Ralston, Benjamin Winfield

82 year old Tri-State district physician, died in his home, 117 North Quincy Street, Commerce Oklahoma, at 6 am today. He had been in ill health for four years and had not practiced his profession since about 1952. After completing his formal education in Nebraska, Dr. Ralston was graduated from the University of Kansas school of medicine. Dr. Ralston moved to Indian territory in 1901 and lived in Lindsay Oklahoma. Before he came to the Tri-state district over 30 years ago. He was associated with the Golden Rod Mine property and later with the Evans-Wallower Company before he became connected with the Tri-state ore producers clinic in Picher Oklahoma. In recognition of his long tenure in the medical field, the physician was awarded a 50 year pin as a doctor in Nov 1951. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sue Ralston of the home; a son, Ben Ralston, and a grandson, Benjamin Winfield Ralston, III, of Lubbock Texas; four nephews, Ross Roberts of Chicago Illinois, Earl Roberts of Reedsburg Wisconsin, M. W. Roberts of Tulsa Oklahoma and Earl Ralston of Gainesville Texas, and a niece, Mrs. Gladys Musgrove of San Diego California. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Presbyterian church in Miami at 4 pm Saturday. The Rev. Harry W. Curtis will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Dr. Glenn W. Cosby, Dr. L. P. Heatherington, Dr. B. Wright Shelton, Dr. W. G. Chesnut, Dr. H. W. Wendelken and Dr. Rex M. Graham. Other members of the Ottawa County Medical Society will be honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in G.A.R. cemetery at Miami, under direction of the Mitchelson funeral home at Commerce. Mayor Arthur Peck requests that all business establishments be closed here during the funeral hour, from 4 to 5 pm in respect to Dr. Ralston.
